Women in global health leadership roles

Why do women hold less than 25 percent of global health leadership roles?

Does it really matter that only 2.4 per cent of Fortune 500 CEOs are women? Or that women make 81 per cent of what men earn?

In the intervening 50 years, Boomer parents have raised a generation of women whose attitudes and beliefs are best suited to exercising the style of leadership Bennis accurately predicted would come to dominate organisations in the future.

I think today when you look across the spectrum, whether it’s corporate or heads of state, managers, CFOs, you can’t deny that we’ve seen some progress. This is a generalization, but women like to do it all.

Women tend to be satisfied with the status quo. They won’t push. Men are aggressive. They’ll say they want a raise. Women are more satisfied: they’ll say, let’s keep it as is; let’s not make waves.
You need a support system out there. Look what’s going on in technology.

Look at IBM, a woman is running it; Xerox, eBay—Google has number of women in senior positions. HP. Tech is probably the most encouraging industry. I do think we’re closer than you think.
